Education Commissioner Horne and State Representative Zapata Will Deliver Books From Just Read, Florida! Book Drive
Book donations from the public and contributions from Barnes and Noble collected more than 800 books for students

Commissioner of Education Jim Horne and State Representative Juan Zapata will be delivering books to schools in Homestead on Friday. In December 2003, Just Read, Florida! partnered with Barnes and Noble Booksellers in Miami to host a holiday book drive that collected more than 800 books for schools with libraries in need.

"I am so pleased with the positive response we had from everyone who made donations," Commissioner Horne said. "It's very rewarding to know that through Just Read, Florida! we've been able enrich the education of so many students through reading. A special thanks to Barnes and Noble for being our partner and to Representative Zapata for spearheading this drive."

Just Read, Florida! is Governor Bush's statewide initiative that prioritizes reading in Florida's public schools. This initiative uses the latest reading research to achieve the Governor's goal that all children will be reading on grade level or higher by 2012.
