Department Of Education to Join Department of Community Affairs in 2004 National Hazardous Weather Awareness Week Kickoff
Poster contest winners to be announced

The Department of Education will join the Department of Community Affairs Division of Emergency Management, Florida's American Red Cross Chapters, and the Florida National Weather Service Forecast Offices to kick off Hazardous Weather Awareness Week February 22-28, 2004.

K-12 Public Schools Chancellor Jim Warford will speak about the importance of interagency cooperation, communication, and collaboration to keep our kids safe. He will be joined by DCA Secretary Colleen Castille, DEM Director Craig Fugate, NWS meteorologist Paul Duval, and ARC Emergency Services Director Chris Floyd.

The winner of the Hazardous Weather Awareness poster contest will also be announced. Over 200 4th and 5th grade Florida students statewide participated.
