Education Commissioner Jim Horne and Other Education Officials to Participate in "Feria Educativa" (Education Fair) in Miami
Horne and State Board of Education Members Charles Garcia and T. Willard Fair to be honored as "Champions for Student Achievement"

MIAMI — Education Commissioner Jim Horne and other education officials will participate in a "Feria Educativa" (Education Fair) in Miami aimed at informing students, parents, educators, and community leaders on ways to increase the number of Hispanic students going on to higher education. The fair, presented by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans and Partners in Hispanic Education (organized by the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships) will take place at Miami Dade College's North Campus on Friday and Saturday.

The Department of Education will provide information regarding such services as FACTS.org (a website where students can plan for college) and Florida's unique partnership with the College Board, which has yielded a historic increase in the number of minority students preparing for college through advanced coursework and college preparatory exams.

The event will take place at:

10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m

Monica Hayes, Director of Equity and Access for the Florida Department of Education will present on the view from Florida during a session for educators at:
