Education Commissioner Jim Horne to Launch "Just Read, Families! For the Holidays" Web Site

TALLAHASSEE — Commissioner of Education Jim Horne will launch a new web-based reading program, "Just Read, Families! For the Holidays " on Monday, December 1 at Oak Hill Elementary School in Jacksonville.

"Just Read, Families! For the Holidays" is a new holiday reading program which provides information for parents so they can take an active role in reading with their children during their winter break. Resources include tips for parents on how to read well with children and a list of recommended books with holiday themes including Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, and Ramadan.

The Commissioner will demonstrate the new web site after reading to students. He will be joined by State Senator Stephen Wise, State Representative Jennifer Carroll, State Representative Mark Mahon, Duval Superintendent John Fryer, and local education officials.
