State Board of Education Chairman Phil Handy's Statement on the Resignation of Board Member Sally Bradshaw

ORLANDO — State Board of Education Chairman Phil Handy today made the following statement concerning the resignation of State Board of Education member Sally Bradshaw:

"Sally Bradshaw's term on the State Board of Education has been a shining example of dedicated public service. Over the course of the past nine months, she has championed true reform. The leadership she has shown in adopting policies geared toward improving student achievement, emphasizing the importance of reading, closing the achievement gap, and preparing students for increased opportunities in higher education will have a positive impact on Florida for years to come.

"It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve with Sally. Her dedication to quality education and high standards will be hard to replace, but I certainly understand and support her commitment to family. On behalf of the Board and as a friend, I wish her all the best in her future endeavors."

A copy of Sally Bradshaw's letter of resignation (PDF), which was delivered to Governor Bush last week, is attached.
