Education Commissioner Horne to Present Award to Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest Winner in Gainesville
Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest Winner to be Announced

GAINESVILLE — Education Commissioner Jim Horne will visit Joseph A. Williams Elementary School today to present the elementary winner of the Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest. Each contestant entered one essay no longer than 500 words. One winner was selected from each of the three grade-level categories, elementary (grades K-5), middle (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12). Winners will receive a computer, courtesy of Hewlett Packard, as well as a full four-year tuition scholarship to a Florida college or university of their choice, provided by the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
