MEETING NOTICE

Universal Prekindergarten Education Advisory Council Meeting

The Universal Prekindergarten Education Advisory Council will meet on October 1, 2003, in Tampa, Florida, at the Tampa International Airport Marriott (Grand Ballroom East). The meeting will begin at 10:00 AM and end no later than 1:00 PM.

The Council, established by the State Board of Education and chaired by Lt. Governor Toni Jennings, will make recommendations for the universal prekindergarten education program required by Constitutional amendment, including expected outcomes, curriculum and assessment standards, program delivery and design, coordination with existing school readiness programs, best practices, and cost estimates.

The October 1 meeting of the Council will be a working discussion of state and local governance of the universal prekindergarten education program.

The site provides links to resources utilized by the Council, and also includes a mechanism for public input for those individuals who would like to share with the Council their issues and suggestions regarding universal prekindergarten education.
