Universal Prekindergarten Education Advisory Council Meeting
The Universal Prekindergarten Education Advisory Council will meet on August 20, 2003, at the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center, Nova Southeastern University, 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Boulevard, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33314 (telephone 954/262-5480). The meeting will begin at 9:30 AM and end no later than 3:30 PM.
The Council, established by the State Board of Education and chaired by Lt. Governor Toni Jennings, will make recommendations for the universal prekindergarten education program required by Constitutional amendment, including expected outcomes, curriculum and assessment standards, program delivery and design, coordination with existing school readiness programs, best practices, and cost estimates.
At the August 20 meeting, the Council will continue its discussion of program standards, and begin deliberations on costs and resources. The agenda includes an overview of Georgia' s universal prekindergarten education program, and a presentation by national experts on financing quality early education prekindergarten programs. There will be an opportunity for public comment during the morning session.
