Universal Prekindergarten Education Advisory Council Meeting
The Universal Prekindergarten Education Advisory Council will meet on July 23, 2003, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport, 9300 Airport Boulevard, Orlando, Florida (telephone: 407.825.1234). The meeting will begin at 9:30 AM and end no later than 3:30 PM.
The Council, established by the State Board of Education and chaired by Lt. Governor Toni Jennings, will make recommendations for the universal prekindergarten education program required by Constitutional amendment, including expected outcomes, curriculum and assessment standards, program delivery and design, coordination with existing school readiness programs, best practices, and cost estimates.
Standards and accountability are the focus for the July 23 meeting, which will include a review of Florida's K-12 Educational Accountability System and current School Readiness Performance Standards, presentations by national experts on outcomes and assessment for young children, discussion of prekindergarten education standards and outcomes, and the opportunity for public comment.
