MEETING NOTICE

Universal Prekindergarten Education Advisory Council Telephone Conference Call
The Universal Prekindergarten Education Advisory Council will meet by telephone conference call on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, from 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon (Eastern).
The Council, established by the State Board of Education and chaired by Lt.
Governor Toni Jennings, will make recommendations for the universal prekindergarten
education program required by Constitutional amendment, including expected outcomes,
curriculum and assessment standards, program delivery and design, coordination
with existing school readiness programs, best practices, and cost estimates.
Proposed outcomes of next week's conference call include:
- Summary of June 24 meeting outcomes: guiding principles and definition of high quality prekindergarten education.
- The agenda for the next Council meeting (Orlando: July 23, 2003), which will focus on "Standards and Accountability," and will include opportunity for public comment.
- Research questions relevant to "Standards and Accountability" to be addressed by presenters.
