Higher Education Funding Advisory Council Meets Tuesday, Dec. 3

TALLAHASSEE — The Higher Education Funding Advisory Council will meet Tuesday, Dec. 3, in Tallahassee to begin discussion of its final recommendations.

The council's meeting will commence at 10 a.m. in Room 1703/1707 of the Turlington Building, 325 W. Gaines St.

A meeting agenda and a list of council members are attached. Also attached are staff recommendations for the council members to use as starting points for their discussions.

The Higher Education Funding Advisory Council was appointed by Education Secretary Jim Horne and the Florida Board of Education and given a broad mandate to study the way higher education is funded in Florida.

The council will determine the demand for access to public and private colleges and universities, community colleges, workforce training programs and proprietary schools and make projections of how that demand might grow in the future.

In addition, Secretary Horne has asked the council to provide recommendations on how Florida's higher-education funding system can be improved.
