Higher Education Funding Advisory Council Meets Friday, April 19
TALLAHASSEE The Higher Education Funding Advisory Council will meet Friday, April 19, at 10 a.m. in Suite 1721-25 of the Turlington Building, 325 W. Gaines St., Tallahassee.
A draft agenda and a list of council members are attached. Extensive background materials can be found on the Florida Board of Education’s Web site, www.flboe.org.
This will be the third meeting of the council. In earlier meetings, council members identified issues in higher-education funding.
At the April 19th meeting, the council will summarize the relevant information and begin developing possible policy initiatives.
The Higher Education Funding Advisory Council was appointed by Education Secretary Jim Horne and the Florida Board of Education and given a broad mandate to study the way higher education is funded in Florida.
The council will determine the demand for access to public and private colleges and universities, community colleges, workforce training programs and proprietary schools and make projections of how that demand might grow in the future.
In addition, Secretary Horne has asked the council to provide recommendations on how Florida’s higher-education funding system can be improved. The council is scheduled to present its final recommendations to the Florida Board of Education this summer.
