Higher Education Funding Advisory Council Meets Friday, April 5

The Higher Education Funding Advisory Council will meet Friday, April 5, at 10 a.m. in Suite 1721-25 of the Turlington Building, 325 W. Gaines St., Tallahassee.

Attached are an agenda, a summary of Friday’s presentations and a list of council members. Extensive background materials can be found on the Florida Board of Education's Web site, www.flboe.org.

The Higher Education Funding Advisory Council was appointed by Education Secretary Jim Horne and the Florida Board of Education and given a broad mandate to study the way higher education is funded in Florida.

The council will determine the demand for access to public and private colleges and universities, community colleges, workforce training programs and proprietary schools and make projections of how that demand might grow in the future.

In addition, Secretary Horne has asked the council to provide recommendations on how Florida’s higher-education funding system can be improved.

The Higher Education Funding Advisory Council is moving quickly, as Secretary Horne has placed a high priority on the council's reaching its findings. The council is scheduled to present its final recommendations to the Florida Board of Education this summer.
