Governor Bush Appoints Jim Corbin to the FAMU Board of Trustees
TALLAHASSEE Governor Jeb Bush today announced the appointment of Dr. Jim Corbin to the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Board of Trustees. Dr. Corbin will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Wilbert Bryant.
"Jim's interest and passion for his alma mater, along with his experience as both an educator and a businessman, will allow him to serve the University well," said Governor Bush. "I am confident that he will be a full time advocate for the needs of the university, the students and the community."
Dr. Corbin, 69, of Chattahoochee, is currently an investment banker. Appointed by Governor Bush in 2000, he was the first graduate of FAMU to serve on the Board of Regents in 19 years. He has 11 years of work experience in administration and personnel management. Dr. Corbin was acting president of Roxbury Community College in Boston Massachusetts from 1974 thru 1976. He is currently a member of the FAMU National Alumni Association.
Dr. Corbin received his undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University in 1956, and his graduate degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1972.
