Commission for Independent Education - (CIE) has statutory responsibilities in matters relating to nonpublic, postsecondary educational institutions. Part of its role in implementing the Department of Education's goal of a seamless educational system, includes licensure of independent schools, colleges and universities and program improvement. For the past twelve years, the Florida Education and Training Placement Information Program (FETPIP) in cooperation with the Commission, has tracked the placement of graduates of independent non-degree and degree-granting institutions. 157 institutions offering non-degree programs and 78 institutions granting degrees participated in FETPIP's data collection program last year, providing information on students who had graduated. FETPIP matched the student records to ascertain whether students were employed and in what profession. The information collected by FETPIP is made available on a program basis to each institution that participated.
Initial Earnings - Data is presented as a comparative bar chart of earnings for high school graduates through Ph.D. degree recipients. Also included in the chart are bars of earnings showing minimum wage, forecasting and poverty thresholds and Florida per capita income.
Tiers - The Workforce Florida Act of 1996, calls for the development of three performance measurement tiers. The first tier would be applied across all workforce programs and initiatives to illustrate system-wide performance. The second tier would include measures from the first tier and additional measures to be used at the major workforce development strategic component level. The third year would include measures from the first two plus any additional measurements mandated by specific state or federal law and those necessary for ongoing management and performance diagnostics. The third tier would be applied at very specific program operational levels.
