1999-2000 Generic Record Format

1. Record Type: G99 - This record is used to transfer data not specifically detailed in the three approved FASTER formats (Interdistrict, Secondary, or Postsecondary). The sending and receiving institutions must define the data to be sent in columns 4 through 1011. Note that columns 1-3 must be 'G99' and data found in columns 1012-1020 will be ignored.
2. The presence of LOW-VALUES in data fields causes significant problems for several institutions in the receipt of student records. Please use some other appropriate character (e.g., SPACES) with which to initialize your records before sending them.

N = Numeric only
Z = Zoned numeric
P = Packed decimal
R = Right justified with leading zeros
L = Left justified

2. National Record Type: HS - This record is used to provide the receiving institution with information concerning health screening activities.

Health screenings are identified by International Classification of Diseases (ICD) "V codes" in the range of V70 through V82.9 (Attachment 1). Also, when circumstances dictate that a procedure is for the purpose of screening, it is identified by a Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code that ranges from 00120 through 99199 and D0110 through D9310 (Attachment 2).
