2008-2009 Student Information

1.	Record Type:	I01 -	Items 1-39a, 44, 50-55, and 58-69 are valid for interdistrict and Bright Futures records transfer.
		S01 -	Items 1-12, 16-17, 19d-19h, 21, 23-30, 33-35, 39-55, 57, 58-69 are valid for transcripts and Bright Futures record transfer.
		T01 -	Items 1-12, 16, 21-22, 33-35, 45-46, 55, 70-71 are valid for Technical Center transcript transfer.

2.	Transfer one record per student.
3.	The presence of LOW-VALUES in data fields causes significant problems for several institutions in the receipt of student records. A transaction will be rejected if non-displayable characters are sent in the data unless found in Filler Reserved for Local Use. Please use some other appropriate character (e.g., SPACES) with which to initialize your records before sending them.
4.	Required fields are indicated by an asterisk (*) next to the field name.
5.	Special characters, tilde (~), caret (^), and grave accent (`), are used as delimiters in the translation of FASTER to SPEEDE/ExPRESS. They are reserved symbols and as such cannot be included in data sent through FASTER to a SPEEDE/ExPRESS institution.
6.	The Withdrawal Date can be a date in the future only when it is in August of the upcoming school year.
7.	New item 70, Technical Center Transcript Status has been added. This field only applies to Technical Center Transcripts.
8.	New item 71, Technical Center Transcript Date Prepared has been added. This field only applies to Technical Center Transcripts.
9.	New item 19c, Year Entered Ninth Grade, Graduation Requirements Determination, has been added. This field is for the purpose of determining the requirements a student must satisfy for high school graduation, the year (biennium) the student entered ninth grade.
10.	The valid values for School Number, Current Enrollment have been expanded to include numbers "N998", "N999", "9994", and "9995".
11.	The "Credits Needed, Local Subject Area Requirements - VOCATIONAL*" (Item #39) has been changed to "Credits Needed, Local Subject Area Requirements - PRACTICAL ARTS*".
12.	Beginning with the 2009-2010 school year, school districts will be required to report all six new Race and Ethnicity data elements and the old Racial/Ethnic Category data element. More than one race element may be coded "Y" and at least one race element must be coded with a "Y". The old Racial/Ethnic Category data element will become obsolete for the 2010-2011 school year.

Grade Point Average State, Cumulative

The numeric value of the student's cumulative grade point average calculated on an unweighted 4.0 scale, if different from the Grade Point Average District Cumulative. The Grade Point Average State, Cumulative is used to determine if the student has met the state high school graduation requirements of a minimum of 24 credits and a 1.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale. See Section 1003.43, F.S., for general requirements for high school graduation.

This grade point average will be calculated as specified in Section 1003.437, F.S., by assigning quality points of "A" = 4, "B" = 3, "C" = 2, "D" = 1, "F" = 0, "Incomplete" = 0 to the letter grades displayed on the automated permanent record ("+" and "-" signs will be ignored).

If the district's Cumulative Grade Point Average for the student is based on a different scale than the 4.0 scale noted above, the district must calculate a Grade Point Average State, Cumulative.

The Grade Point Average District, Cumulative and the Grade Point Average State, Cumulative, if different from the district's average, will be displayed on the automated permanent record and the transcript. This State Grade Point Average will be used for all state-defined functions. See Section 1003.437, F.S., for the statewide grading scale.

Standard Diploma:
Diploma awarded to students who have passed the Graduation Test, successfully completed the minimum number of academic credits as identified in Section 1003.43, F.S., and successfully completed any other requirements prescribed by state or the local school board.

Standard diploma awarded to students who have received a FCAT waiver, successfully completed the minimum number of academic credits as identified in Section 1003.43, F.S. and successfully completed any other requirements prescribed by the state or the local school board.

Standard Diploma awarded to students who have met all of the requirements to graduate based on the 18-credit college preparatory graduation option.

Standard Diploma awarded to students who have met all of the requirements to graduate base on the 18-credit career preparatory graduation option.

Standard Diploma using the GED Exit Option Model:

Differentiated Diploma:
Diploma awarded in lieu of the standard diploma to those students exceeding the prescribed minimums. Differentiated diplomas are to be recorded as standard diplomas (W06).

Special Diploma:
Diploma awarded to students who have been properly classified as educable mentally handicapped, trainable mentally handicapped, hearing impaired, specific learning disabled, emotionally handicapped, physically impaired, or language impaired.

Effective with the 1994-95 school year, school boards may award Special Diplomas based on two (2) options.

a)	Option one shall include procedures for determining and certifying mastery of student performance standards for exceptional students as prescribed in Rule 6A-1.0996(3)-(10), FAC.
b)	Option two shall include procedures for determining and certifying mastery of demonstrated employment and community competencies in accordance with Rule 6A-1.0996(12), FAC.

State of Florida Diploma (GED):
Diploma awarded to students based on the student's satisfactory completion of the General Education Development Test.

a)	Diploma (WGD) awarded to high school students who participated in the GED Exit Option Model, successfully completed the GED, but did not pass the Graduation Test.
b)	Diplomas awarded to adult students should be recorded as W45.
