Updates to the 2007-2008 Version of FASTER

This document lists the updates that have been made to the FASTER system since the release of the manual.
 


As of October 22, 2007 -

   - On the I/S01 Demographic Record Format, a value of "ZZ" has been added as a valid value for the Migrant Birth State field. This value should be used when the Migrant Birth State is unknown, or falls outside of the United States, Mexico or Canada.   

   - On the I/S01 Demographic Record Format, on the Migrant Birth State field, the following note has been added for emphasis: " NOTE: This field is required only when the Migrant student's record is being sent to MSIX. For non-Migrant Student records this field should be left blank. "    

   - On the I/S01 Demographic Record Format, on the MSIX Indentification Number field, the following note has been added for emphasis: " NOTE: This field only applies to Migrant Students. For non-Migrant Student records this field should be left blank."    

   - Added BJ (Belarusian) to list of language codes on Attachment 1 to Format I/S01.   

   - Added DB (BELARUS) to the list of foreign country codes on Attachment 2 to Format I/S01.   

   - The GRT (Gates MacGinitie Reading Test) now has five Test Subject Content codes: 01 = Total Battery, 11 = Reading Comprehension, 12 = Vocabulary, 3L = Word Recognition, and 13 = Word/Phonic Attack/Analysis.   

   - A new test score type of "FR" has been added, to indicate "Final Rating".   

   - On all Interdistrict and Secondary formats, A value of "9997" has been added as a valid value for the School Number, Current Enrollment field for Migrant Non-Attenders. This value should be used as a reporting number for students identified as Migrant, ages 3 through 21, who are not enrolled in school, and have not graduated from high school.    

   - On the I/S11 Migrant Student Information Record Format, the following note was added for clarification: The following fields are desired, but are not required: QAD from City, QAD from State, and QAD from Country. They were previously reported as being required.    

   - On the I/S11 Migrant Student Information Record Format, on the QAD from State field, the definition was changed to include "... a state (within the United States, Mexico or Canada)".    

      

As of April 18, 2008 -

   - The I10 PAS Code Record is now required only for FCAT SSS Reading and SSS Mathematics subtests taken after 1/1/2008 (changed from 1/1/2007)

   - The description of the field QAD From State on the I11 Migrant Student Information record has been changed to include a reference to the new Appendix Z. Appendix Z is a list of all valid state codes within the United States, Mexico and Canada.

   - A file name was changed in the description of the field Major Area of Interest (Item #61) on the I/S04 Student Course Information record. The file name was changed from FRN.DISTRICT.FACTS.MAI.COURSES, which is incorrect, to FRN.DISTRICT.FACTS.EPEP.MAI.COURSES.

   - Two new Language codes were added to Attachment 1 of the I/S01 Student Information format. They are LO - Lamnso, and VS - Visayan.

   - One new Country code was added to Attachment 2 of the I/S01 Student Information format. It is AM - St. Martin.

   - Two new Test Name codes, and their accompanying Test Subject Content codes, were added to Appendix I. The new codes are CAI - Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE), OTM - On the Mark, and VPP - Voyager Passport.

   - Wording was changed on the I08 Student Test Information Record, which stated that the Test Score field can contain only numbers. This statement was not true, and was removed.

   - Wording was changed on Edit #9 of the I11 Migrant Student Information Record. On a transmission to MSIX, the Qualifying Arrival Date (QAD) to State must be either "FL", "AL", or "GA". On transmissions coming from MSIX, it must be a valid U.S. state code as found on FRN.DISTRICT.STATE.
