Evidence continues to be positive and convincing that students make greater gains when schools engage families in learning. Research results by the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory show that programs and special efforts to engage families are related to strong and consistent improvement in academics. Also, students in schools with highly rated parent partnership programs made greater gains on state tests than those in schools with lower rated programs.
