Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Accountability
Children Included in the VPK Provider Readiness Rate Calculation
Children Served - The number of children enrolled at the provider and for whom the provider received a payment as indicated by the provider's final invoice for the 2005-2006 program year. The VPK Provider must have served at least four children to be included in the readiness rate.
Children Meeting Substantial Completion The number of children who were enrolled for at least 85-percent of the school-year or summer program. The provider must have served at least four children to be included in the readiness rate calculation.
Children Screened on Any Measure - The number of children who were screened with any or all of the Florida Kindergarten Readiness Screener (FLKRS) measures. FLKRS is administered in the first 30 days of kindergarten and includes a subset of the Early Childhood Observation System (ECHOS) and the first two measures of the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS ) for kindergarten (Letter Naming Fluency and Initial Sound Fluency). At least four scores must be reported for each measure for a readiness rate to be calculated for a provider.
Children in Readiness Rate Calculation The number of children in either the school-year (540 hour) or summer (300 hour) program for whom the provider was paid at least 85-percent of the total hours and who were screened on any one of the three FLKRS measures.
