Related Services


Section 1003.01(3)(b), Florida Statutes (F.S.), defines special education services as specially designed instruction and such related services as are necessary for an exceptional student to benefit from education. The current federal regulations found at Title 34, Section 300.34, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), define related services as services as are required to assist a child with a disability to benefit from special education and includes:
  • Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Services
  • Interpreting Services
  • Psychological Services
  • Occupational and Physical Therapy
  • Recreation (Including Therapeutic Recreation)
  • Early Identification and Assessment of Disabilities in Children
  • Counseling Services (Including Rehabilitation Counseling)
  • Orientation and Mobility Services
  • Medical Services for Diagnostic or Evaluation Purposes
  • School Health and School Nurse Services
  • Social Work Services in Schools
  • Parent Counseling and Training
