TLCF Intent & Purpose
TLCF was identified as a strategy for helping states meet the goals outlined in the National Technology Plan, Getting America's Students Ready for the 21st Century: Meeting the Technology Literacy Challenge. The plan included four goals, referred to as the "Four Pillars."
- All teachers in the nation will have the training and support they need to help all students learn through computers and through the information highway.
- All teachers and students will have access to modern multi-media computers in their classrooms.
- Every classroom will be connected to the Information Superhighway.
- Effective and engaging software and online learning resources will be an integral part of every school's curriculum.
A requirement of the request for Proposals (RFP) has been that LEA have had to develop projects based on goals that relate to one or more of the "Four Pillars." Some of Florida's funded projects have addressed the equipment and infrastructure needs, while others have provided the professional development necessary for teachers to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.
