Frequently Asked Reinstatement Questions:
Submitting Fingerprints
- I am employed or am seeking employment with a Florida public school district or charter school. Do I fill out a fingerprint card mailed to me from the Bureau with my reinstatement letter?
No. If you are seeking employment with a Florida public school or charter school, the personnel staff in the district office where your school is located will assist you with completing the fingerprint process and send the results to the Bureau of Educator Certification. Charter school employees are also fingerprinted for certification through the district school board's personnel office.
- I am employed or seeking employment with a private school in Florida. Do I fill out the fingerprint card mailed to me from the Bureau with my reinstatement letter?
Yes. If the individual is not employed in a Florida public school district, a completed fingerprint card should be submitted to the Bureau with a processing fee of $56.25. Your certificate will be issued when the requirements are complete and your fingerprint clearance has been received from FDLE and FBI.
- I am not seeking employment with a school at this time.
- I have a criminal offense record. Will that delay the issuance of my reinstated certificate?
Before any certificate may be issued by the Bureau of Educator Certification an individual must present fingerprints processed by the FDLE and the FBI. IF the results of that processing reflect a criminal offense record, the records must be reviewed by Professional Practices Services. Issuance of the certificate is contingent upon the results of that review.
