The Department of Education/Office of Early Learning (DOE/OEL) works in collaboration with the Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to implement the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education program.

2009-10 District FLKRS Training! New!

Section 1002.69, Florida Statutes, requires that the statewide kindergarten screening be administered within the first 30 days of kindergarten. Children who participated in VPK and attend kindergarten in a non-public school are also provided opportunities to participate in the screening. School districts will be conducting training for non-public kindergarten teachers on administering the ECHOSTM portion of the Florida Kindergarten Readiness Screener (FLKRS). Below are the dates, times, locations and contact information for each district. Non-public schools should contact their district to register for training.

2009 Summer VPK Planning Tool New!

Planning for the Summer VPK program should always be a collaborative effort between the early learning coalitions and VPK providers, specifically school districts and private providers. This document is provided to assist in answering questions and establishing critical timelines.

2007-08 VPK Provider Kindergarten Readiness Data Book

Consistent with our goal to provide leadership and support to administer Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education program, we are pleased to provide detailed statistical information regarding the 2007-08 VPK Provider Kindergarten Readiness Rates.

The site has summary data by district and coalition, including the number of providers by provider and program type; student demographic data, English language learners, children who qualify for free or reduced lunch and students with disabilities, by provider type, program type and provider quartile.
