Teacher Task Force
The Commissioner’s Teacher Task Force was created by the Department of Education, in partnership with the Florida Education Foundation, to serve as an advisory group to the Commissioner. This group of educators, representing teachers statewide, will work to identify the characteristics of effective teachers and will collaborate with Department staff in promoting plans to capitalize on discussions that will elevate teaching as a profession across the state. Task Force members were selected based upon their dedication and individual achievements within the profession.

On Friday, May 7, 2010, the Task Force members met with Commissioner Smith to discuss ways to effectively communicate with teachers. The Task Force also met to revise the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPS) document, which is now open for public comment at www.fldoe.org/profdev/FEAPSRevisions/. The final version will be presented at a future State Board of Education meeting for approval.
