Pierson SUBJECT: Spending Flexibility Requirements In accordance with the provisions of House Bill 13-C, Section 3, as enacted by the special session of the Legislature, school districts are required to report to the Department the amount of funds transferred from each of the categorical programs granted spending flexibility for the 2001-02 fiscal year. Spending flexibility was granted for the categorical programs listed below in order to maintain board-specified academic classroom instruction. · Pupil Transportation, Specific Appropriation 121 · Inservice Educational Personnel Training, Specific Appropriation 122 · Safe Schools, Specific Appropriation 118 · Public School Technology, Specific Appropriation 120A · Teacher Recruitment Bonuses, funding in excess of amount required for retention bonuses, Specific Appropriation 119 · Teachers Lead, funding in excess of the amount necessary for stipends, Specific Appropriation 122A · Supplemental Academic Instruction, funds previously budgeted for non-classroom instruction may be redirected to academic classroom instruction, Specific Appropriation 118 Requirements for Spending Flexibility 1) Adoption of a resolution pertaining to the use of the funds, 2) Certification that every eligible teacher has received the stipend, prior to utilizing Teacher Lead carry forward funds, and 3) Report to the Department the amount of funds transferred from each program and the specific academic classroom instruction for which the funds were expended. Flexibility Reporting Please provide a copy of the adopted flexibility resolution and the approved budget amendment to the Office of Funding and Financial Reporting as soon as possible following the school board’s action.
