1. Where does the lottery money go for education?

   • The Department of Education produces an annual publication of Education Appropriations funded by the Florida lottery and the document includes a history of appropriated lottery funds since the beginning of the Florida Lottery, and may be found at http://www.fldoe.org/fefp/pdf/Lotbook.pdf (PDF, 1MB).

2. How much money does my district receive for K-12 schools?

   • The current Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP) calculation of funds to be distributed to school districts may be found at http://www.fldoe.org/fefp/offrfefp.asp.

3. How are school districts funded?

   • The Department of Education each year updates the Funding for Florida School Districts document. This is a step by step funding process of the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP) and may be found at http://www.fldoe.org/fefp/pdf/fefpdist.pdf (PDF, 1MB).

4. Who is the budget officer for my division within DOE?

   • A list of personnel in the K-20 budget office as well as the "budget officer for" information may be found at http://www.fldoe.org/budget/default.asp.

5. How much money did the State of Florida provide to education?

   • A copy of the current General Appropriations Act providing the details of the current State of Florida budget may be found at http://laws.flrules.org/files/Ch_2010-152.pdf (PDF).

6. What percentage of the state universities' total operating budget is appropriated by the Legislature and student tuition/fees?

   • These percentages have decreased slightly over the past three years, having ranged from as high as 43 percent in 2006-07 to as low as approximately 39 percent in 2009-10. This pattern has occurred in part as a result of the decline in state revenues Florida has experienced since 2007.
