Title I, Part A Local Educational Agency Improvement

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) monitors local educational agencies (LEAs) progress in meeting student achievement goals. If a LEA did not meet one or more Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals for two or three consecutive years, it is identified as in need of improvement. If a LEA did not meet one or more AYP goals for four or more consecutive years, it is identified as a LEA in corrective action based on federal requirements.

When LEAs enters corrective action, the FDOE makes it give a part of its funds to provide services to low-performing students in Title I schools.

The FDOE is required to notify parents of each LEA identified as in need of improvement or corrective action.
