Linda K. Taylor
Linda K. Taylor has a lifetime of involvement in education issues and has worked at all levels of education. As a former teacher and as a member of several education boards, she understands the importance of all segments of Florida's K-20 education system. Taylor served as Founding Chairperson and played a lead role in working with the business community to form the Foundation for the Lee County Public Schools, which provides funds for programs which cannot be implemented with state funds. She established and served as the Founding Chairperson of the Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program, which has recognized excellence in K-12 teaching for the past 16 years. Taylor served as a Trustee for Edison Community College and its Foundation Board. At the University level, Taylor served as Vice Chair of the newly formed Board of Trustees at Florida Gulf Coast University. She was a founding member and served as Chairperson of FGCU's Foundation Board. Taylor's efforts have been recognized on the local, state and national level. She was presented with the Clara Barton Humanitarian Award and the Pi Beta Phi Sorority National Crest Award for Distinguished Alumnae Achievement for her work in education. The Golden Apple Teacher Recognition was recognized by President Reagan with his Innovative Program Award. Taylor is a Chairperson Emeritus of the Golden Apple Program and the FGCU Foundation Board. She received her BS degree in Education from Ohio State University with a minor in business. She is a 33 year resident of Fort Myers.
