- Searchable Catalog of Adopted ESOL, Language Arts, Literature, Music, and Reading Materials K-12
The catalog is updated annually in April.
The Catalog of State Adopted Instructional Materials is updated annually, following the adoption of new materials in December. However, the newly adopted materials do not go on contract until April 1 of each year. The catalog provides general information about all the materials that are on the state-adopted list. The information includes the approach to content, purposes, or outstanding features; teaching aids; the recommended grade level(s) and the suggested instructional time. If the state committee that reviewed the materials had notations to make about the program, those comments are also included.
Florida adopts those materials that were bid for purchase: the major tool and ancillary pieces. Any free materials that are offered are subject to change at any time. However, the major tool and ancillary materials are on contract for a specified period and substitutions can occur only if "the revised edition can be used satisfactorily with the currently adopted edition simultaneously in the same classroom, is identical, equal, or superior to the physical specifications of the currently adopted edition, and is available at no increase in price."
Instructional materials on contract are also required to meet certain physical specifications and are warranted for the length of the adoption. When the materials do not meet the physical specifications, the publisher guarantees replacement during the term of the contract.
Publishers are required to maintain or contract with a depository in the state. Therefore, this catalog is only a listing of the state-adopted materials. Except for the following two Spanish Programs, Ediciones SM and Innovaciones Psioeducativas, Inc., materials from all the publishers listed in this document must be ordered from:
Florida School Book Depository
Paul Bent, President
P.O. Box 6578
Jacksonville, FL 32236
(904)781-7191 / 800-447-7957

Please be advised that this depository publishes a catalog that lists state-adopted materials as well as non state-adopted materials. The depository is a private organization, and therefore, does not provide the same kind of commentary that can be found in the state's catalog.
