Columba Bush's Arts for Life!
Scholarship and Professional Development OpportunityDeadline - January 11, 2008
The application for the Arts for Life! Scholarship Program is available on the Foundation for Excellence in Education’s website, ExcelinEd.org. Established by former First Lady of Florida Columba Bush, the program awards a $1,000 cash scholarship to 25 high school seniors in dance, music, theater or visual art. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring of 2008.
In 2008, the 2007-2008 Arts for Life! scholarship recipients will attend a professional development workshop led by Romero Britto, International pop artist. This workshop is designed to help these young artists plan, organize and sustain their creative career. Students will be introduced to professional practices in both the public and private realm. They will learn practical, real life strategies to create and maintain a professional portfolio, navigate state colleges to earn a degree in art, seek internships and employment and market their work to patrons of the arts.
Time is running out! To be eligible, applications for the Arts for Life! Scholarship Program must be postmarked no later than January 11, 2008. Please be sure your students receive the application before they break for the Winter Holidays.
