Welcome to the Office of Humanities!
Humanities Education provides opportunities to learn and explore the creative process and thinking to express one's self for the future.Students across the state of Florida are engaged in creative learning and exploration of the humanities. Through language arts, social sciences, music, art, dance, and drama, we explore what it means to be human. The unifying themes of production, history, criticism, and aesthetics are common within Florida’s Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for the humanities.
Through study of the humanities, the human need to create can be expressed kinesthetically, aurally, spatially, or though interdisciplinary interpretation. The rich experiences and learning provided to students in Florida by quality teachers in the humanities have given us successful accomplishments in all areas of the humanities.
This section of the FLDOE Web site provides educators in the field of humanities with access to transforming research, funding resources, and curricular and instruction support for quality humanities education.
The Office of Humanities produces a quarterly newsletter entitled Perspectives (PDF, 228KB). Please explore Perspectives (PDF, 228KB) where humanities news and information from schools in the state of Florida are shared each month. You are invited to submit entries.
