Current Competencies and Skills: Fourteenth Edition

The Competencies and Skills Required for Teacher Certification in Florida is a publication produced by the Florida Department of Education. It includes a comprehensive listing of the State’s requirements for demonstrating competency and knowledge in the areas of Professional Education, General Knowledge, and the subject areas listed below. The Fourteenth edition contains the competencies and skills approved by the State Board of Education in Spring 2009.

Draft Competencies and Skills: Fifteenth Edition

General Information

In Spring 2010, the State Board of Education will review the following draft competencies and skills for 2 subject areas. If approved, the draft competencies and skills will be implemented on examinations administered beginning Summer 2010 and printed in the Competencies and Skills Required for Teacher Certification in Florida, Fifteenth Edition.
