Current Competencies and Skills: Sixteenth Edition (for exams taken on or after 1/01/12)

The Competencies and Skills Required for Teacher Certification in Florida is a publication produced by the Florida Department of Education. It includes a comprehensive listing of Florida’s requirements for demonstrating competency and knowledge in the areas of Professional Education, General Knowledge, and the subject areas listed below. The Sixteenth edition contains the competencies and skills approved by the State Board of Education in 2011, when updates to two subject areas were approved: Health K-12 and Physical Education K-12. The Sixteenth edition applies to examinations taken on or after 1/01/12. 2013 or Later Exams: Competencies and Skills (17th Edition)

Competencies and skills for the following four subject areas were reviewed and approved by the State Board of Education in October 2011, as reflected in Rule 6A-4.0021, Florida Administrative Code. They will be available online for at least one year before their implementation on exams in 2013, and will be incorporated into the Competencies and Skills Required for Teacher Certification in Florida, Seventeenth Edition:
