Vendor Information from the Florida Department of Education
As you know, Florida is one of 10 states selected in Phase Two to receive a Race to the Top grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The Race to the Top grant offers Florida a unique opportunity for partnerships among the entire education community to improve the quality of education for all of Florida’s students. Vendors of products and services are anticipated to be partners in many of the planned implementation activities. Given the comprehensive and complex nature of the plans as articulated in the application, the Memorandum of Understanding, and other supporting documents contained on this website, the Florida Department of Education has determined that information for vendors will only be available through this website. Accordingly, individual Department staff will not provide any information regarding potential competitive procurements unless the procurement has been formally advertised. When a competitive procurement is advertised, a specific purchasing agent will be identified as the Department’s representative in all matters related to that particular procurement process. To ensure that all potential vendors receive helpful information, the Department is taking the following steps:
- Offering potential vendors the opportunity to receive notice when this section of the website is updated.
- Creating a unique e-mail address for vendors to use in contacting the Department:
- Scheduling a Vendor Symposium in Tallahassee on Sept. 30, 2010, when Department staff will share all vendor-related information as available and appropriate
- Scheduling a vendor fair to be held in a central location where vendors can display their products and services that are specifically designed for schools and school districts.
All competitive solicitations will be posted on the State’s Vendor Bid System; however, we will also post this information in the vendor area of the Race to the Top website.
We look forward to partnering with as many vendors as possible to achieve the goals of the Race to the Top funding.
