Transition Process:

  • The parents of students returning to Leon County Schools from a DJJ program should schedule a meeting with the assigned Juvenile Probation Officer. If probation is not assigned, the parent or student (if 18 years of age or older) should contact the school district transition contact directly. School placement decisions will be made by a team. Team members include the Juvenile Probation Officer, the school district's transition contact or designee, the parents, and the student. In most cases, non-exceptional education students will be placed at an alternative school for a period of up to 45 days or until the remainder of the semester. Exceptional education students will have their individual educational plan reviewed before a recommendation for school placement is determined.
  • Initial transition records should be emailed to ShaRhonda Brown: or mailed to her at: Leon County Schools, 82757 West Pensacola St., Tallahassee, FL 32304.
