AALA staff provides assistance to schools, districts, school board personnel, teachers, parents, and community organizations in all facets of education for Language Enriched Pupils (LEP) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program services. A toll-free Parent Hotline (800-206-8956) is available to assist parents and community members. Assistance is available in Spanish and French, as well as English.

Technical assistance is provided through telephone contacts, correspondence, visits to schools and districts, and workshops conducted at the school and district levels.

Workshops are offered at schools and districts on parental involvement, data collection and evaluation, program implementation, teacher training, and other topics. AALA staff also present at workshops at the state and national levels, and at many professional organizations.

Assistance is provided to districts in writing Grant Proposals to the USDOE, and in the implementation of funded projects.

AALA maintains and has available listings of ESOL, bilingual and foreign language contacts in Florida, as well as of parent and professional organizations.

AALA's Resource Center contains teacher resource materials and culturally authentic materials - Books, Videos, Audiotapes, and Filmstrips - in English, and in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. Materials are available for loan for instruction and self-development. A catalog is available. [Temporarily not in service due to relocation]
