Placement and Length of Service
LEP STUDENT ASSESSMENT TIMELINES
This is the average time from
the completion of the Home Language Survey (HLS) to
the placement (classification) of the student in the
ESOL program. The standard is 20 days or less for the
completion of this important process. Between the HLS
and classification the student must be assessed for
English language proficiency and placed accordingly.

LENGTH OF TIME (YEARS) SERVED IN ESOL PROGRAMS
This is the average period of time that students are classified as 'LY' and served in ESOL programs. This period is not a set number of months or years, but depends on the needs of the individual student.
