Local Educator Selected As One of 24 Expert Educators Worldwide

Palm Beach County Schools

Todd LaVogue

Roosevelt Middle School Magnet Coordinator, Todd LaVogue, was selected as one of 24 Expert Educators worldwide by the Microsoft Corporation. The announcement was made at the School District of Palm Beach County Technology Conference, February 19, with Microsoft's United States Director of Education, Andrew Ko, in attendance.

Mr. LaVogue, who placed third in the world in the Educator's Choice category at last year's Microsoft Partners in Learning Global Forum in Prague, Czech Republic, was invited to attend and present at this year's Global Forum in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October.

"Microsoft continues to devote a lot of resources to help educators," said Mr. LaVogue. "I appreciate all Microsoft has done to benefit and celebrate educators. I am also very proud to represent Roosevelt Middle School on a global stage."

The Expert Educator Program was created to recognize pioneer educators globally who are using technology to transform education.

On a yearly basis the program celebrates renowned educators with some selected to be part of this exclusive global community of visionary leaders who are paving the way for their peers in the effective use of technology for better learning and student outcomes.

"Innovation and creativity are skills that are on the decline in the United States," said Mr. LaVogue. "Microsoft has recognized this and is working to identify and develop innovative educators who will, in turn, develop innovative student learners. This is a win-win initiative."

Expert Educators work closely with Microsoft to lead innovation in education. They advocate, share their experiences with peers and policy makers on effective use of technology in education. They provide insight for Microsoft on new products and tools in education. They share valuable experiences, lessons and best practices and they work together as a community to promote ideas to innovate in teaching and learning. The program reaffirms Microsoft's commitment to education and its thought leadership in that area.

Expert Educators gather face to face and through an exclusive Partner in Learning Network community to collaborate, exchange ideas and share insights among themselves and with Microsoft as well.
