Tampa-Area Principal Donates Locks to Encourage Student Attendance
Hillsborough County Public Schools

More than 100 Alexander Elementary School students with perfect attendance participated in a raffle to decide which stellar student would have the honor of cutting Principal Kristina Alvarez' hair. Another 300 students who earned a 96 percent or better attendance record were on hand to watch winning student, first grader Cynthia Garcia, take the first cut.
Principal Alvarez' locks were donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a partnership between Pantene and the American Cancer Society that turns donated hair into free, real-hair wigs for women with cancer.
Two elementary school students also donated eight inches of their hair to the cause. This is the second time Principal Alvarez has let a student cut her hair to boost school attendance.
