Food trucks are all the rage but it's nothing new to Orange County Public Schools
Orange County Public Schools
Food and Nutrition Services has been using a mobile food service truck since 2004. While its number one use is for emergency purposes like power outage and cafeteria renovations, its role has expanded to provide meals for planned school activities, such as school field days and other events where having a mobile food service vehicle is both convenient and effective.
"When the mobile food service vehicle is used in support of school programs and events, there has been an 8 percent increase in student meal participation. The district had the foresight more than seven years ago to solve a need; since then we have been able to evolve to serve our student population even more with our mobile food service vehicle," said Lora Gilbert, senior director, OCPS Food and Nutrition Services.
