KidCare Act-Out for Health Contest Winners Announced

After reviewing more than 400 entries from middle and high school students from across the state, the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation announced the winners of the 2010-2011 Florida KidCare Act-Out for Health public service announcement (PSA) and billboard contests. Tallahassee students Lydia Hatcher and Carter Richeson from Lawton Chiles High School took the statewide honor in the PSA contest and Billy Myrtil from South Tech Academy in Boynton Beach was named the billboard winner. The winning PSA will air on cable television this spring and the billboard is already on display in Palm Beach County.

The 2010-11 Florida KidCare Act-Out for Health regional winners are:

Region 1 (Tallahassee/Panama City/Pensacola)
PSA: “The Great KidCare Robbery” by Stanley Denny, Preston Lucas and Onoriode Onokpise, Godby High School, Leon County
Billboard: Ashley Frierson, Godby High School, Leon County

Region 2 (Gainesville/Ocala/Jacksonville)
PSA: “Truancy Detective” by Amanda Barney and Keiondre Boone, Dunnellon Middle School, Marion County
Billboard: Christian Britt, Dunnellon Middle School, Marion County

Region 3 (Orlando/Daytona/Melbourne)
PSA: “Ow! My Leg” by Charlie Brunjes and Phillip Dixon, The Villages Charter Middle School, Sumter County
Billboard: Jessica Lezcano, Deltona High School, Volusia County

Region 4 (Tampa/St. Petersburg/Lakeland)
PSA: “Healthy, Out of Bed, and Learning” by Nick O’ Donnell, Lakewood Ranch High School, Manatee County
Billboard: Hailey Baker, Dr. John Long Middle School, Pasco County

Region 5 (Miami/Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach)
PSA: “More Time to Play” by Aaron Goldberg and Belen Mella, Sunny Isles Beach Community School, Miami-Dade County
Billboard: Michael Cardona, South Tech Academy, Palm Beach County

Region 6 (Fort Myers/Naples)
PSA: “Why KidCare?” by Casey Durand and Gina Radicchi, The Sanibel School, Lee County
Billboard: Hannah Brown, Cypress Lakes High School, Lee County
