Orange County School Recognized as National Demonstration School
Howard Middle School in Orange County was recently selected as an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) National Demonstration Site by the national center in San Diego, Calif. The AVID program is a college-readiness system designed to close the achievement gap and increase the number of students who enroll in four-year colleges by raising academic expectations.
Howard Middle is the second AVID model school in Orange County and one of only four in Florida. The school will be visited by school leaders from around the country to see why and how the program works. For more information about the AVID Center, visit www.avidonline.org.
