Lee County Middle School Wins Statewide Music Award
Mariner Middle School in Cape Coral, Fla., was recently chosen as the Florida Music Educators’ Association’s (FMEA) Secondary School Innovative Project Award recipient for the school’s Reading Comes Alive with the Sound of Music program. The novel The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle was set to specially commissioned music and students analyzed the music according to the novel’s setting, characters and plot while language arts students wrote a review of the music played by the school’s advanced band.
