Pinellas Teachers Receive Awards From State Developmental Disabilities Council

Three teachers from Kings Highway Elementary in Pinellas County received the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council’s 2008 “You Make a Difference” award. Teachers Cynthia Melendez, Vicki Alexiou and Arthurene Williams, were given the award based on their use of inclusive practices in their classrooms and schools.

The Council presents the awards to encourage school personnel in Florida to engage in inclusive education practices, an approach to education that creates learning environments designed for diversity and for making natural education settings accessible to all children.
