Florida Students Recognized For Outstanding Achievement In The Arts

Twenty-three graduating public high school seniors from across Florida were recently recognized by Jeb and Columba Bush and the Foundation for Excellence in Education as the 2008 Arts for Life! Scholarship Program award winners. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship toward their pursuit of the arts in higher education.

Columba Bush, Florida’s First Lady from 1999 to 2007, established the Arts for Life! Scholarship Program to recognize the creativity and artistic talents of high school students throughout Florida. To date, the program has awarded scholarships to more than 200 high school seniors for excellence in the artistic disciplines of dance, music, theatre and visual arts.

The 2008 Arts for Life! Scholarship recipients from public schools are:

    • Ryan Redmond, Alexander Dreyfoos Jr. School of the Arts, Palm Beach County
