Marion County Teacher Recognized for Her Animation

Karin Gunn, a West Port High School photography and digital animation instructor, has been named one of the nationís best by the National Art Education Association. The honor was given to two secondary teachers who demonstrated excellence in incorporating digital design and technology into their curriculum.

Gunn will receive a full scholarship to attend the Creative Educators Institute in July at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. She will join more than 100 outstanding educators for an intensive weeklong professional development workshop. During the week, she will work in the MIADís art studios and technology facilities and participate in design related events aimed at reenergizing her creative side.

Also as part of the honor, Gunn was allowed to choose a student to attend the MIAD Art Institute program on full scholarship. Although not an easy decision, she chose Aaron Pagniano, a junior at West Port. He is enrolled in Gunnís digital animation program.

She will be recognized at a luncheon during the National Art Education Association conference in New Orleans.
