Okaloosa County Teacher Named Science Teacher of the Year
Meigs Middle School Science teacher Greer Harvell in Okaloosa County was named the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Shell Science Teacher of the Year. She will receive a $10,000 check and an all-expense paid trip to attend the NSTA national conference on March 28 in Boston, MA.
Harvell received the Toyota Tapestry Science Teaching grant last year, which earned her $10,000 of teaching supplies and materials and a trip to the NSTA conference. She is currently involved with the city of Fort Walton Beach conservation project to develop oyster reefs in the Santa Rosa Sound and to monitor the Red Tide. She is also very active in the Science Fair and Science Decathlon.
