Blountstown High School FFA Captures National Titles
Blountstown High School senior Will Leonard captured the National Championship title in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Prepared Public Speaking Competition in Indianapolis, Ind. Leonard competed against the best FFA members from 45 other states. He presented an eight-minute speech on private property rights and how they are being debated.
The Blountstown High School FFA Business Management Team placed 2nd in the nation at the national competition. The following students were part of the team: Nic Soltzfus, Jeffrey Stewart, Max Herndon, and Amy Reid. The business management competition is an event that includes economics and demonstration of how to run a farm. Students are judged on financial statement, budgeting, income tax management, family living, marketing, and investment analysis. As individuals, Stewart captured third in the nation, Stoltzfus was fourth, and Herndon was sixth, earning each of them a scholarship. Reid ranked as a gold individual.
