Florida State School Social Worker of the Year
The Florida Association of School Social Workers (FASSW) recently announced Robin G. Pitura, a social worker for Lee County Public Schools, the School Social Worker of the Year.
She was honored for her exemplary service to schools, students and the community in the area of school social work in education. Mrs. Pitura is an itinerant school social worker assigned to The Sanibel School, Cypress Lake High and Dunbar High.
Mrs. Pitura has been a school social worker for more than two decades. In that time, she was instrumental in helping develop the Truancy Intervention Program (TIP) for elementary and middle schools. She also helped create an Attendance Procedures PowerPoint presentation, which she uses in workshops with District principals and other school staff responsible for overseeing student attendance.
