Bowling Educator of the Year

Susan Searls, physical education teacher at Davenport School of the Arts in Polk County, was recently honored at the 2007 Bowling Centers Association of Florida (BCAF) annual meeting as the association's Educator of the Year.

She was chosen for the award by the association's officers for her development of bowling instruction and the bowling program at her school. She has implemented bowling instruction into physical education classes. She arranges bowling field trips and uses special bowling equipment that includes carpeted lanes to teach bowling in school. The equipment is used both during the school year and during a summer program at the school.

Susan was one of the first Polk physical education teachers to attain National Board certification and she is also a two-time recipient of a Disney Teacherrific award.
